On May 16th, the Springfield Chamber Greeters Committee hosted a special presentation honoring local law enforcement. The Springfield Greeters and other guests gathered at Along Came Trudy to celebrate those law enforcement officers that go above and beyond in serving their community.

The Springfield Chamber Greeters Committee’s Honoring our Thin Blue Line was conceived by business leader Bill Compton who saw the need for greater awareness and appreciation for the sacrifices and bravery of our local public safety personnel. The inaugural program rolled out at last year’s Joint Springfield-Eugene Greeters Breakfast with resounding success, giving rise to continuing the program as an annual event.

This year, the breakfast awards and recognition program was held during National Police Week and was complemented with shift-change thank you treats delivered by area businesses to four public safety agencies across the County. The awards program was emceed by Bill Compton, DirectConnect Humanitarian Aid and Tab Davis, BiCoastal Media. Guest Speakers were Bailee Seeley- Daughter of Deputy J.R. Davis and Springfield Police Chief Chris Lewis.

We have a vision of a welcoming community known for its courageous leadership, flourishing economy, and quality of place. The aspirations we have for our businesses, ourselves, and our community do not exist without safety, security, and a sense of well-being. While we’re going about the business of taking care of business, we do so knowing the men and women in uniform are going about taking care of us.

Thank you and congratulations to these fine men and women recognized for their bravery and professionalism at the Springfield Chamber Greeters Second Annual Honoring our Thin Blue Line event.
