Opportunity Oregon, a leading organization dedicated to finding employment opportunities for justice-involved individuals through prison outreach, employer education, and business development services, is thrilled to announce its transition from a for-profit business to an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This restructuring marks a significant milestone in our journey, enabling us to amplify our impact and better serve the needs of our community.

In today’s environment, employers are struggling to recruit and retain hardworking and loyal employees, while individuals with criminal backgrounds are facing huge employment barriers. Opportunity Oregon is bringing these two parties in need together to champion economic development, community safety, and financial security.

Over the years, we have witnessed firsthand the power of employers and justice-involved individuals uniting in breaking the cycle of recidivism. These employer-employee relationships nurtured by Opportunity Oregon are instrumental in the successful and permanent reentry of a contributing member of society. It’s a win for all.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Opportunity Oregon will continue to offer our core programs and initiatives, empowering individuals with the necessary preparation, mentorship, and access to pre-vetted employers willing to hire despite one’s background or circumstance. Our commitment to providing quality career placement, fostering relationships, and promoting economic opportunities for individuals and businesses remains unwavering.

This restructuring not only allows us to align our operations with our mission but also opens up new opportunities for collaboration and partnership with other nonprofits, government agencies, and philanthropic organizations. By joining forces, we can maximize our collective impact and work towards a more equitable and prosperous society.

Furthermore, this transition will enable us to access various funding sources available exclusively to nonprofit organizations, such as grants, donations, and tax-deductible contributions. These financial resources and in-kind contributions will strengthen our ability to expand our programs, enhance outreach efforts, and provide greater support to individuals and communities in need.

Throughout this transition, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dedicated team, partners, and supporters who have stood by us throughout our journey. Your unwavering commitment to our cause has been instrumental in our success so far, and we are confident that with your continued support, we will achieve even greater heights in our pursuit of positive change.

Opportunity Oregon remains committed to transparency and accountability. As a nonprofit organization, we will adhere to the highest standards of governance, ensuring that every dollar contributed towards our cause is utilized effectively and efficiently. Our financial records will be publicly available, and we will regularly communicate our progress and impact to our stakeholders.

We are incredibly excited about this new chapter in our organization’s history. The transition to a nonprofit status will undoubtedly enhance our ability to make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and communities throughout Oregon. Together, we can build a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
