Springfield’s State of the City to be Held on January 25

Springfield’s annual State of the City Address will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 at the Richard E. Wildish Community Theater in Downtown Springfield. Community members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Mayor Sean VanGordon will share his vision for Springfield in 2024 and beyond. He will also reflect on accomplishments that occurred in 2023 with help from City Council members. Additionally, Mayor VanGordon will announce his selections for Springfield Business of the Year and City of Springfield Employee(s) of the Year for 2023.

New to this year’s program, community leaders will join Mayor VanGordon live, on-stage for a Q&A session to discuss their organization’s connections with Springfield. Scheduled to join Mayor VanGordon:

  • John Karl Scholz – President of the University of Oregon
  • Jameson Auten – CEO and General Manager of Lane Transit District
  • Avril Watt – Springfield Chamber of Commerce Board Chair and General Manager of Astec Industries Inc.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will start at 6:00 p.m. followed by refreshments and conversation on the Wildish stage.

Event schedule

  • 5:30 p.m. – Doors of the Wildish Theater open
  • 6:00 p.m. – Address starts
  • 7:00 p.m. – Address is scheduled to finish with refreshments immediately after
  • 7:30 p.m. – Event ends
