The Springfield Chamber recently caught up with Robert W. Reilly, president and CEO of Mixed Handed Branding, to learn more about his full-service branding and marketing firm headquartered in Eugene/Springfield. From strategic brand planning to digital communications, Mixed Handed Branding helps organizations define their identity and drive results. In this Member Profile, Reilly shares the inspiration behind launching the firm, what makes their approach unique, and how they’re growing with the community they call home.

Tell us a little about Mixed Handed Branding.
Mixed Handed Branding is a firm that provides analysis, brand strategy, branded solutions, design, and marketing expertise to help companies build and manage their brands. Mixed Handed Branding defines the way that organizations think about their brand and its intrinsic value to their customers. We do this through strategic brand planning that aligns company goals and objectives to thrive in their respective marketplace.

How did you get started in your industry?
I studied advertising and design at Iowa State University and have been involved in media production for the past 17 years, creating award-winning advertising campaigns, events, and marketing plans that help build brands. I am passionate about media, sales, marketing, design, advertising, and data-driven analysis that are the core of any great brand strategy.

As a thought leader in my industry, I taught emerging trends and practices at Universities for seven years before changing careers to focus on developing marketing and branding strategies in the professional arena. I then worked for a branding firm in Honolulu, Hawaii for several years before branching out and creating Mixed Handed Branding in March of 2019.

What services do you offer and what makes Mixed Handed Branding unique?
We are a full-service marketing and branding agency that specializes in digital communication through websites, socials, email marketing, SEO, and PPC management. We have found that our clients typically use us for a variety of needs, but most clients start working with us for our expertise in website building.

I think it is our approach to projects that makes us different– we use a consultative approach that matches marketing with operational and organizational structure to ensure all goals are in alignment. We consider our clients to be partners and help them develop ways to increase revenue and profits.

What do you like most about your work?
I enjoy the constant updates, tweaks, and changes that need to be made to improve a campaign. Also, the success of good marketing and working with clients to help them reach their goals.

Basically, the ongoing evolution of a partnerships with clients that provides new and exciting challenges and opportunities on a regular basis.

Any advice for others?
Don’t start your own business with the mindset that you are going to work less. Start a business because you are passionate about what you do and you feel that you can do it best, or better than what is currently out there.

Anything else you’d like to share?
We are a small but growing firm in Eugene/Springfield, with six local employees and room to grow. We love our roots and are excited to continue to make connections, find new partners, and grow with our community here.

Mixed Handed began in 2019 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Their founder, Rob, worked to help local businesses succeed for two years before moving back to the Mainland and settling in Eugene, Oregon.
