Member Profile: Main Street Market

Located in the heart of downtown, Main Street Market is a family-owned grocery store offering everything from organic produce and locally sourced meats to pantry staples and grab-and-go favorites. The Springfield Chamber spoke with co-owner Amy Robinson about her journey into small business ownership, how she and her partner have thoughtfully grown the store over the past three years, and why Main Street Market is proud to be a friendly, full-service stop for everything your household needs.

Tell us a little about Main Street Market.
Main Street Market is a neighborhood family owned and operated grocery store. My partner and I purchased the market about three years ago, and since then we have worked hard to expand local offerings, connect with producers and makers, and bring in what our customers are looking for.

We are proud to offer all organic produce, much that is grown locally and arrives directly from the grower. Our frozen section also includes a great selection of locally produced meat that is delivered direct to our store. We also have all the grocery staples and bulk goods and coffee, grab and go, chocolate and goodies, and an expansive selection of beverages, alcoholic and otherwise.

We have a little bit of everything and people are always surprised about the variety and quantity of products we can fit into our space. People can visit the market to shop for the week, grab a few items for dinner that night, or just pop in to buy a favorite beverage or snack.

How did you get started in your industry?
We were living in Montana and had a desire to open a grocery store. My partner is from this area, and Main Street Market came up for sale. We jumped at the chance to return to the Pacific NW, raise our daughter near family, and operate a small business together. We have learned a lot!

What services do you offer and what makes Main Street Market different?
We are different because people come to have an enjoyable, unique shopping experience with friendly, helpful service. We recently launched an online store and now offer curbside pick up and delivery! You can shop online or in-store, and support local people and local products.

We are family orientated, we help you find what you are looking for, and we listen to what you need. Every customer matters. We thoughtfully source items because it is an important part of our values to purchase from local businesses while providing healthy options for our community.

What do you like most about your work?
I enjoy the community of folks that enter the store from customers, to growers, to delivery drivers. I like connecting, laughing, and making choices for our business that supports people and the planet.
