Willamalane to hold MEGGA Hunt on April 3
Advance registration begins March 15
SPRINGFIELD – Willamalane Park and Recreation District will hold a modified version of its annual MEGGA Hunt event on Saturday, April 3 at Dorris Ranch, 205 Dorris St. in Springfield. Historically, the event offered a large group egg hunt and other hands-on activities for children. This year, the event will take two new formats to meet state safety guidelines: an in-person, limited capacity event and a take-home basket.
The in-person event and the take-home basket are each $10 in-district and $12 out-of-district. Limited spaces and baskets are available. Registration begins on March 15 online at willamalane.org/meggahunt or by calling 541-736-4544.
For the in-person event, families will arrive at Dorris Ranch and go to a private section filled with eggs to find. The day-of event will feature music, craft kits, a photo booth, balloon animals, Hops the Bunny, and more.
Families who opt for a take-home MEGGA Hunt experience will have everything they need for an at-home egg hunt. The Backyard Egg Kit comes complete with eggs, crafts and other fun surprises. It will be available for purchase until March 26 and can be picked up between March 22 and April 2. Purchases must be made in advance.
Willamalane staff are eager and excited to deliver the spirit of the event in a new way. Special Events and Operations Program Tracy Kribs said, “MEGGA Hunt will look different this year, but our team is excited to host an egg hunt that feels familiar and fun for families in our community. We’re still inviting families to come out to a park that we think children will love, but by sectioning off egg hunt spaces, we can make it as safe as possible.”
While Lively Park set the stage for previous MEGGA Hunts, Dorris Ranch is better suited to sectioning off egg hunt areas. “Dorris Ranch is the backdrop for so many great family memories, and we’re excited to use this beautiful space in a new way” said Kribs.
