LDS Church to sponsor free gardening classes
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Springfield is sponsoring free gardening classes January through March at several locations in the Springfield/Eugene area.
The classes are being offered by Ross Penhallegon, emeritus professor of horticulture at Oregon State University. Ross is an agronomist who has volunteered throughout the world with his wife, Kate, through various programs, including USAID farmer-to-farmer programs led by ACDI/VOCA, Winrock International, CNFA, and Partners of the America. His focus is on urban and commercial horticulture, including organic food production and composting.
