Meet The Developers
On Friday September 27th, more than 30 business owners, community members, and Chamber peers gathered at the first of a four part luncheon program series called Meet the Developers. The program allows Chamber peers and staff to sit down with local developers, hear what’s top-of-mind for these entrepreneurial visionaries, gain insights to their motivation, and glimpse at what they have in sight. The series kicked off with a presentation from Len Blackstone, a visionary developer from Cottage Grove who shared his enthusiasm for small town community development and shared some inside scoop on his exciting new project which hopes to bring new life into downtown Cottage Grove.
Len had the whole audience captivated throughout his entire presentation. From his riveting story on his current project, where he decided, “you pick the biggest, ugliest building, in downtown, and renovate it,” to his incredible philosophical insights which had every attendee wondering “what is real, and what is a reflection.”
Len shared his passion for community development in Cottage Grove as well as provided insight into ways he strives to be the best leader he can be. Building it better, faster, cheaper, and greener, is a motto that Len lives by in his work as a developer. We could not have asked for a better presenter to start off this four part program series and are truly grateful for the time Len took to speak to all who attended.
A quote from Len on the way he encompasses leadership: “hire people bigger than you, you will become a company of giants.”
