City of Springfield Seeking Applicants for Planning Commission

The City of Springfield is now accepting applications to fill an open position on the Planning Commission. The appointed member will serve through December 31, 2026.

The Springfield Planning Commission consists of seven members who play a key role in shaping the city’s future by:

  • Making final decisions on land use matters such as zone changes, variances, and discretionary use requests.
  • Advising the City Council on legislative issues, including comprehensive plan amendments, transportation and infrastructure planning, and updates to the Springfield Development Code.
  • Serving as the Committee for Citizen Involvement, which fosters opportunities for residents to engage in land use policy development within the urban growth boundary.

The Planning Commission typically meets on the first and third Tuesday evenings of each month.
