Chamber’s Small Business Solutions Hub focuses on Regulatory Issues
Striving to provide the best atmosphere possible to do business in our area, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce provides resources like the Small Business Solutions Hub to keep you apprised of the issues that impact your business. That was the true essence of the final Small Business Solutions Hub program of the year, focusing on regulatory issues that impact businesses of all sizes, and the information they need to know to be in compliance.
On Friday, October 21st, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce hosted attendees both online and in person for presentations from two of our Small Business Solutions Hub investors, Hershner Hunter and Hutchinson Cox.
Eugene-based law firm Hutchinson Cox’s Laura Montgomery presented on how changes in 2023 to Oregon’s Workplace Fairness Act will affect businesses of any size. In her presentation, Laura covered the four statutes that were amended to Oregon’s Workplace Fairness Act, provided takeaways for business professionals, and answered questions from attendees.
Hershner Hunter’s Mario Conte provided a robust overview of Paid Leave Oregon: what the legislation requires, who/what is covered, and how businesses can be prepared for the rollout of this program in 2023.
Both speakers provided attendees with an extensive amount of quality information regarding what businesses need to know around the Workplace Fairness Act and Paid Leave Oregon, and answered an array of questions spanning which businesses are impacted by these changes/implementations, how self-employed workers can find the information they need to know, and much more.
