Hello World, Welcome to Town

Whether you’ve arrived by air, road, or rail you’ve captured but a glimpse of the rich Oregon Tapestry.

If along your way, the blue Cascadia peaks, the golden Valley farmlands, and the rolling hills that bear the fruit of Oregon’s world-renowned wines have whet your appetite for more, know the best is yet to come. As you take in the local scene and set your sights on finding your Oregon experience, let the summer sun’s reflection on the rivers that flow from peak to valley to ocean, entice your adventurous stride. Our gift to you is a memorable experience and we welcome the chance to be your guide.

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is one of eight local chambers of commerce in Lane County, and one of an estimated 90 in Oregon. Unlike some countries, chambers of commerce in the United States operate outside of the authority of local government. Every chamber operates independently, has a volunteer board of directors comprised of community and business leaders, and most employ paid professionals to carry out the programs, services, and economic development initiatives. Organizations or individuals choose to be members of the Chamber for a variety of reasons, but the greatest of these is a shared commitment to a thriving economy anchored in quality of place.

To know our Springfield chamber community is to get to know our team. Some of us come to Oregon from other regions of the pacific northwest or were born and raised here in Oregon. Others derive from the east coast and the Midwest. We’re foodies, craft beer enthusiasts, cyclists, runners, hikers, and outdoor adventure seekers. We have traveled to countries of Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas and have spent years studying or working abroad. Today we find our paths converge around a common purpose: supporting enterprising endeavors and adventures closer to home. We know when the local baseball team is playing and where to mail a package home. We can direct you to the best panoramic view of the valley, suggest the best shaded nature trail for a quiet stroll, or a place to take the kids to burn off some extra energy.

The Chamber is often the first point of contact for businesses, visitors or members of the public seeking information and recommendations for, well, just about everything. We know our town like nobody’s business, and we welcome the first opportunity to share our unique Oregon experience with you while you’re here.

The Chamber is housed at the Springfield Business and Visitors Center at the west entrance to Springfield’s historic downtown. You’ll find us at the historic Southern Pacific Railway Passenger and Freight Station which locals call “The Depot.” Built in 1891 of wood frame and truss construction, it is the last remaining Stik Style chalet train station in Oregon. While there are dozens of visitor-friendly online resources and apps helpful in planning your stay, we know there’s nothing quite like a tip from a friendly local or a map in hand; both of which give you a bird’s eye view of where you’ve been and where you’re going.

For whatever reason you’ve come and for however long your stay, the gift of a memorable experience is awaiting you. So please, come say hello. You can also find us at www.springfield-chamber.org.
