The Springfield and Eugene Chambers of Commerce have released a guide for area employers anticipating reopening their doors to clients and customers any day now. The County’s application to enter Oregon’s Phase I Reopening was submitted last Friday, and is still (as of this release) pending approval. The Back to Business: A guide to reopening is designed to offer reliable guidance in an easy-to-follow format with the small business owner, manager, and personal service provider in mind. Included are best practice tips and resources, as well as comprehensive state-approved guidelines announced earlier this week for retail establishments, restaurants and bars, outdoor recreation, personal services, hospitality, and also for general public.

The Back to Business guide will be distributed online as a sharable and downloadable format, and made available to all businesses through the Chambers of Commerce and economic development partner agencies at Lane County, Travel Lane County, and the Cities of Springfield and Eugene.

The Chambers of Commerce have been advocating to bring economic disaster assistance and relief to businesses during pandemic-related closures, and also to provide accurate and timely resources. Brittany Quick-Warner, President of the Eugene Chamber and Vonnie Mikkelsen, President of the Springfield Chamber said that soon after conversations about reopen plans emerged from the state, they saw there would be need for a business-friendly resource, and green-lighted the project last week. “It wasn’t a difficult decision. We share a desire to point our talents and resources toward helping our community in this incredibly uncertain time. This was clearly the right thing to do, as was working on it in collaboration with our Eugene Chamber partners,” said Mikkelsen. Quick-Warner hopes businesses will find value in the tool, “There is so much information and It’s constantly changing. Our hope is we can help simplify, streamline, and remove any uncertainty from business-owners’ minds so they can focus on re-opening and serving the community.”
