The City of Springfield has published the final report of the Mayor’s Fiscal Stability Task Force, a community-led effort to examine the City’s long-term financial outlook and recommend strategies for achieving a more sustainable and resilient future.

The Task Force, made up of community members representing diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise, met over nine weeks from January to March 2025. Their charge was to develop a shared understanding of the City’s services and finances and provide recommendations to begin to address Springfield’s $4.5 million general fund gap.

The final report, agenda materials, meeting minutes, video recordings, and other background documents are now available on the City’s Fiscal Stability Task Force landing page at: https://springfield-or.gov/mayors-fiscal-stability-task-force

The report will be formally presented during the City Council Work Session on Monday, May 19 at 5:30p.m. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at Springfield City Hall, 225 5th Street. While public comment is not taken during work sessions, community members are encouraged to attend and stay informed.

“Springfield is a community where people genuinely care for one another,” said City Manager Nancy Newton. “Throughout this process, my belief has remained the same: when given the facts, our community will come together to make decisions that reflect our shared values and do what is right. The level of collaboration and commitment we have seen is inspiring and gives me great confidence in our shared future.”
