Second Friday Special Artist Receptions and Book Presentation

The Springfield Arts Commission is thrilled to invite you to a special winter art walk reception this Friday, December 9 during Second Friday Artwalk from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery will be featuring a showcase of work by three winners of the Mayor’s Art Show; Springfield Arts Commission’s special awards; a group exhibit of Charro & Escaramuza photography; and the beautiful fiber art of the Community Coral Reef Project.
La Comisión de Artes de Springfield se complace en invitarle a una recepción especial de caminata de arte de invierno este viernes 9 de diciembre durante el Second Friday Artwalk de 5 a 7 p.m. La galería contará con una muestra del trabajo de tres ganadores de los premios especiales de la Comisión de Artes de Springfield de la Exhibición de Arte del Alcalde; una exposición colectiva de fotografía de Charro & Escaramuza; y el hermoso arte de la fibra del Community Coral Reef Project.
The Commission is also proud to host Comunidad y Herencia Cultural as they present the book titled, “Los orígenes hispanos de Oregón,” (Hispanic origins of Oregon). The event is free and open to the public. Los Faroles Taqueria will provide free food and beverages and the event will also feature live music by the West Winds Flute Choir.
La Comisión también se enorgullece de albergar Comunidad y Herencia Cultural al presentar el libro titulado Los orígenes hispanos de Oregón. El evento es gratuito y abierto al público. Los Faroles Taqueria ofrecerá alimentos y bebidas gratuitas y el evento también contará con música en vivo por a cargo de West Winds Flute Choir.
Linda Devenow
Linda Devenow returned to her great passion – photography – in 2018 after attending an exhibit of infrared photographs. Her portfolio covers landscape, portraiture and nature images, with emphasis on black and white and color infrared.

Donald Meyers
A photographer for more than 50 years, Donald Meyers became interested in infrared photography relatively recently for its ability to bring a new element to his work that expands his view of an already amazing world.

A group photography show highlighting the people and animals of charro and escaramuza, the highly skilled male and female horse riders of the traditional charrería, Mexico’s national sport.

Comunidad y Herencia Cultural will present this groundbreaking collaborative work exploring more than 250 years of little-known history of the Pacific Northwest coast including history not normally presented in history books.

Community Coral Reef Project
Artists from throughout the world are contributing to a stunning, room-sized fiber coral reef to be displayed in the fall of 2023 to call attention to the fragility of these vital ocean ecosystems. Catch a sneak peek of the growing reef in the display cases.

About Springfield’s City Hall Gallery
Located just outside the entrance to the Springfield Library, City Hall Gallery is seen by approximately 3,700 visitors each month. Since 1989, City Hall Gallery has featured monthly shows by regional artists chosen by the Springfield Arts Commission. The Commission issues a public call to artists each year.
