City of Springfield Seeks Applicants for Boards, Committees, and Commissions

The City of Springfield is calling on dedicated community members to contribute their talents and perspectives by serving on one of the city’s various boards, committees, and commissions. This is an opportunity for residents to play an active role in shaping the future of their community. Applications are available online at Springfield Get Involved.

Springfield values diversity and inclusion and encourages individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and perspectives to apply. The application deadline for all positions is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Available Positions

Budget Committee
• Positions: 1 open position representing Ward 6.
• Term: Three years, expiring on December 31, 2027.
• Duties: Review the City’s financial plans and annual budget.
• Eligibility: Applicants must reside in Ward 6. Ward Map.

Planning Commission
• Positions: Multiple positions available.
• Term: Four years.
• Duties: Make decisions on land use matters and advise the City Council on legislative planning issues.
• Eligibility: Applicants must reside within the Springfield city limits or within the urbanizable area of the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).

Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC)
• Positions: 1 open voting member position.
• Term: Three years, beginning January 2025.
• Duties: Advise on bicycle and pedestrian policies, programs, and facilities.
• Eligibility: Springfield residents with an interest in promoting active transportation.

Interviews
Applicants will be interviewed by the Springfield City Council during scheduled work sessions in March 2025. Dates and times will be announced.
