Chamber Announces Ribbon Cutting to Open BLOCK Party 2025

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce they will be kicking off Block Party 2025 with a ribbon cutting/opening ceremony, in conjunction with the event organizers and title sponsor SELCO Community Credit Union.
What began as a modest neighborhood gathering has grown into one of Springfield’s most anticipated annual events, thanks to the leadership and vision of Benjamin Wilkinson. As principal organizer of The Block Party, Wilkinson has helped grow the free, family-friendly celebration into a vibrant showcase of local business, art, music, and community. Spanning ten city blocks and drawing thousands each year, the event reflects Springfield’s entrepreneurial spirit and deep community pride.

• 4th & Main Street Intersection near Kesey Mural/Team Springfield Booth
Members of the general public along with Chamber members are invited to join the commencement of festivities on Main Street at 4:00pm to kick off this year’s party. There will be giveaways, music, community spirit, and an incredible photo opportunity. The Chamber has invited Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon, along with local city officials and executives from Team Springfield to participate.

The Springfield Chamber’s affiliation with The Block Party has been ramping up in recent years. Celebrating their 75th anniversary of incorporation last year, the Chamber was The Block Party’s “live mural” sponsor, resulting in the Emerald Art Center building mural that was painted by local artist Bayne Gardner and finished with contributions from the partygoers.

The Block Party 2025’s Ribbon Cutting kickoff event is a fun tribute to the Chamber’s customary ribbon cuttings for new businesses all over Springfield, and marks the symbolic opening of this year’s festivities. In addition to the Opening ceremony, the Springfield Chamber will have a booth next to the Emerald Art Center mural; Chamber staff members and volunteers will be on hand to discuss the Chamber’s work promoting and advocating for local businesses.
For visitors who wish to contribute to the impactful work of the Springfield Chamber, their signature “I ‘heart’ Springfield” t-shirts will be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting the Springfield Chamber Foundation. As the 501(c)(3) nonprofit partner of the Chamber, the Foundation accepts tax-deductible contributions that directly support workforce programs, advocacy initiatives, and economic development efforts.
For those attending, parking will be limited and it’s recommended that you give yourself ample time to arrive on site in advance of the event. In the meantime, you can stay on top of updates on The Block Party’s blog, as well as the Chamber’s event page.
