Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge is a new local small business that offers the opportunity for people to relax and interact with adoptable cats in a peaceful environment. To welcome them as new members of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, we recently spoke with them to find out more about their organization.

Tell us a little about Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge.
We are a small business that works with local cat rescues to provide a space for cats in need to find their forever homes. The hope is that people who want to adopt a cat will come meet the kitties at the lounge and see if they’re a good fit. The cat rescue agencies handle the adoptions, so we can focus on operations in the Cat Lounge. Even if you aren’t looking to adopt, the Cat Lounge is a great place to get your fill of cat antics and pets for an hour in a soothing environment and ease the fast-paced stress of the day.

Where and how did you get started in this type of business?
Michelle Wyatt visited several cat cafes across the country and lamented the lack of a local cat lounge in Lane County. When she retired from her career as an MD, she decided to pursue that dream. Finally, the culmination of her networking efforts resulted in the Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge.

What services do you offer and what makes Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge unique?
We offer a soothing and novel environment to relax in a room full of wonderful cats. We have a variety of snacks and drinks to enjoy during your visit, as well as a fun cat-themed boutique for cute merchandise and gifts. We do online booking to make your visit easy and hassle-free.

What do you like most about this work?
Being able to bring cat lovers together with cats in need. All of our kitties belong to cat rescues after being surrendered, found as strays, or as part of a trap and neuter project by local rescues. We help them find homes that will care for them, assuring the cat’s stories go from tragic to inspiring.

Do you have any advice for others?
We strongly suggest adopting from any local rescue rather than shopping with breeders. There are so many amazing cats that need homes already.

Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge creates a fun place for people to relax and enjoy the many benefits of being around cats, to help cats in need find a loving home, and to provide a space for people to spend time with cats if they can’t have one in their home.
