Leadership Eugene Springfield (LES) Applications due by July 29!
Get informed, grow as a leader. Apply for the 2022-23 Leadership Eugene Springfield class!
For 36 years, Leadership Eugene Springfield (LES) has provided up-and-coming leaders with unique knowledge, networking skills, and exceptional lessons relevant to the Greater Springfield/Eugene Area’s current and future needs.
This coveted program fosters passionate and involved leadership competency and creates a forum for the exchange of ideas about how to create and sustain a thriving and resilient community.
The Leadership Eugene Springfield program is a collaboration between the Springfield and Eugene Chambers of Commerce and is driven by a steering committee of program alumni, passionate about developing strong community leaders. Applicants are interviewed by members of the Eugene and Springfield Chambers of Commerce, as well as a panel of volunteer alumni of previous LES cohorts, and participants are chosen based on a proven commitment to the area.
Current LES steering committee chair Jessica Redman is an Assistant Vice President at SELCO Community Credit Union and an LES alumnus.
“We embrace diversity, which means there is no right or wrong experience to have before joining the program,” said Jessica. “Because this is a civic-oriented leadership program, we hope to find individuals who want to be civic leaders and impact positive change in our community. To one applicant, that might mean expanding their volunteerism and service efforts, where others might want to join a board or run for public office. Everyone has something to contribute to the cohort and program.”
Graduates of the program have honed important civic development and leadership skills, including: coordinating large groups of people with diverse backgrounds and opinions; gaining exposure to different aspects of community that build Springfield/Eugene; and learning new things about businesses, non-profits, and government.
Through monthly day-long sessions, the LES program:
- Develops knowledge and awareness of leadership skills.
- Focuses on topics relevant to Springfield and Eugene’s current and future needs and opportunities.
- Fosters a network of contacts among participants and presenters.
“The experiences you will have and the connections you will make during this eight-month program are invaluable!” said Jessica. “There is so much to be said about the lifetime connections you will make with community leaders, fellow cohort members, and the large network of LES alumni.”
Partial scholarship assistance may be available to individuals who otherwise would be unable to participate – you may indicate that need by checking the box on the application form. The applicant or applicant’s employer must be a member of either the Springfield or Eugene Chambers of Commerce. The program begins in October and ends with graduation in May. The application window for the 2022-23 program will close on July 29, 2022. Applicants will be interviewed beginning in August.
