$15,000 grant will be celebrated at local Petco event on June 23, 2022

Greenhill Humane Society is set to receive a $15,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love during a special celebration at the Eugene Petco at 1169 Valley River Drive on Thursday, June 23 at 11 a.m. in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Lane County, Oregon.

The Petco Love investment will support Greenhill’s cat program which will result in more lives saved and a healthier community. The grant will be used to increase training for staff and volunteers to better assist community members seeking help with cats. Additionally, funds will be used to increase the shelter’s veterinary resources to help community cats. The support this grant provides Greenhill will increase the number of cats cared for at the shelter and helped within the community.

Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $330 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.5 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Greenhill Humane Society is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently celebrated the one-year launch anniversary of Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet facial recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

“Thanks to partners like Petco Love, Greenhill is able to provide a high level of care for animals in our shelter. This grant will help us address the needs of stray and homeless cats in our community. We are tremendously thankful for their support,” said Cary Lieberman, Greenhill’s Executive Director.

Greenhill Humane Society is a nonprofit organization that has been caring for animals in Lane County since 1944 and operates the only animal shelter within the Eugene/Springfield area. Last year, the shelter cared for over 3,138 animals. In addition, it provided more than 1,966 surgeries and distributed over 50,000 pounds of pet food through its Community Pet Pantry.
