We recently got the chance to do an interview with one of our newest members, Lada Korol – Vollara Independent Distributor. We asked abut the technology behind her product, how air scrubbers can be useful in many settings, and the future of her business – read more below!

• Tell us about air scrubbers – what makes them different than an air purifier?

I love the term Air Scrubber. When I first heard about them, I wondered, how in the world do you scrub air? Mr. Clean and cartoony floating scrubbing bubbles and brushes came to mind, dancing in the air. What makes it different from a traditional air purifier or a filter is that those technologies are passive. They sit in a corner of the room or in an HVAC, waiting for a pathogen to find its way to it, get pulled in and be trapped. But with an airborne bug like Covid, how does passive equipment prevent direct person-to-person transmission in real time? It doesn’t. • How did  you get interested in Vollara and their products?

I needed a science-based, FDA-approved solution to sanitize the air and rebuild consumer confidence at MooDo Taekwondo, a Martial Arts school I help my partner run, as we were re-opening post-Covid. It’s also an event space so we have folks sub-leasing the facility. It’s a fitness studio and people breathe and play hard in it. Many didn’t feel safe to come back. I didn’t want to turn to harsh chemical foggers, so we invested in this technology to protect our students and instructors from Covid, and long term, into the future. All our students and their parents felt safe to come back after learning about our virus mitigation upgrade. We had such an overwhelmingly positive response that I decided to share this innovation with my fellow business owners. This technology will serve our community years into the future.

• What are the best settings and uses for Vollara air scrubbers?

Since these units are light weight and portable, they can be placed anywhere. It’s a plug and play solution. They’re also super quiet so they can be placed in any indoor scenario where people interact. These have been used in medical settings like doctor and dentist offices, schools and daycares, restaurants, gyms, food manufacturing/processing, hotel meetings rooms, senior centers and nursing homes, massage/therapy offices, to sanitize Air BNBs, RVs, buses, government buildings, event spaces, homes…anywhere people need to deactivate airborne and surface pathogens. The large unit will scrub up to 3,000 sq ft space with a 10 ft ceiling and the Mobile, up to 500 sq ft and has a cigarette lighter vehicle adapter.

• What do you like best about having a business in the Springfield/Eugene area?

Originally I’m from the USSR, from the hustle and bustle of Moscow. My family and I moved to the US in 1990, relocated to Eugene in 1996 and I now live in Thurston. I adore the Pacific Northwest for the nature and the laid back lifestyle of a smaller city, but within close proximity to Portland. I love the diversity, the people, and that I can make Eugene/Springfield my “home base” and still have regional and national reach. I’m in control of the speed of my life and my business here. 

• What does the future hold for your business?

Covid has made every individual on the planet be keenly aware of airborne and surface pathogens. Air quality is finally on people’s minds and individuals and businesses are ready to invest in the safety of their homes, offices and public shared spaces. As a health nut, I am overjoyed that people are starting to care about their air quality. Through the rest of 2021 my passion is to help my local community transition to the post-Covid world safely, while addressing the challenges ahead, like the next virus variant, the upcoming flu season and prevent whatever bug is on its way. The technology also performs incredibly well to mitigate airborne allergies, mold and fire smoke, all of which are prevalent in our region.
