VIRTUAL TRANSIT ROUNDTABLE

The Eugene and Springfield Chambers of Commerce invite you to join Congressman Peter DeFazio for a virtual roundtable on transit.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, last year transit agencies across the country faced a shortfall of nearly $40 billion, driven by ridership declines that averaged between 65 and 80 percent. Transit agencies exhausted relief funds provided by Congress in March 2020 and had deficits far exceeding what was provided in December 2020.

The additional funding from the American Rescue Plan helped 435,000 transit workers—including those who work for third-party contractors. It aided 2.7 million frontline workers who rely on public transit to get to their jobs, including over 750,000 doctors and nurses,125,000 grocery store clerks, 50,000 postal and delivery workers, and 110,000 first responders and members of the armed forces.

Panelists for Roundtable Discussion:

  • Aurora Jackson, Lane Transit District (LTD)
  • Congressman Peter DeFazio, U.S Representative
  • Rob Zako, Better Eugene Springfield Transportation (BEST)

Register for the discussion below to learn how these funds will be used to transform our local transportation system into one that is green, affordable, reliable, and efficient.
