Eugene, Ore.—(February 25, 2021)—March 18, 2021 is National Bus Operator Appreciation Day to recognize the dedication and community contribution that bus operators make to the quality of life and vibrancy of our communities.

Every day, LTD’s 170 bus operators navigate traffic, construction, and weather to take passengers to the people and places they want to visit. But operating a bus is not all that they do. Bus operators also assist passengers looking for their stop or who may have lost their way, while keeping passengers safe on board.

“Bus operators are community heroes, friends, family members, and neighbors,” said Aurora Jackson, LTD’s general manager, who started her transit career as a bus operator in Southern California. “As essential workers, they have continued to work every day during the pandemic, so I ask that everyone join me to thank these dedicated professionals for their community service and care for our passengers.”

Jackson encourages passengers and community members to thank bus operators when they see them or post on the LTD Facebook page a warm greeting of appreciation at facebook.com/LaneTransit.
