Springfield Arts Commission Opens Heritage Arts Grant Cycle

Grant application deadline is April 15, 2021 for projects contributing to arts and culture in Springfield.

The Springfield Arts Commission (SAC) is accepting applications for its Heritage Arts Grant and will be offering an information session for applicants wanting to learn more about the grant process.

“Creativity is a powerful agent for engaging and connecting our community,” said Melissa Green, Springfield Arts Commissioner and chair of the HAG committee. “We are proud to offer the Heritage Art Grant in support of arts-based projects that broaden access to arts, promote inclusive community engagement, inspire dialogue, and enhance the sustainability of cultural enterprises.”

The Heritage Arts Grant celebrates the arts and recognizes projects in Springfield that preserve and celebrate the culture of the city. Past grant awards have provided funding for music and dance groups, as well as projects involving visual arts. The grant application and guidelines is available on the Springfield Arts Commission’s webpage at http://bit.ly/SpfldArtsCommissionThe deadline to apply is 5 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021. 

About the Heritage Arts Grant

The grants are funded by the City of Springfield transient room taxes and administered by the Springfield Arts Commission. Grant awards range from $250 to $1,500 per project.

Past awards have supported projects such as:

  • The Academy of Arts and Academics’ A3 community art classes
  • Artist Helen Liu’s collaborative community project
  • Ditch Project’s exhibition with Indigenous Women Fine Art Collective
  • Eugene Springfield Youth Orchestra’s student performances
  • Springfield School District’s Centro de Bienvenida Cesar Chavez Celebration
  • Grupo Latino de Accion Directa’s Noche Cultural event
  • Springfield Alliance for Equality and Respect’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration
  • The Past Prime Time Players performance
