Wayfair’s Grand Opening
On September 10th, staff from the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce joined Wayfair and a host of community and statewide partners to celebrate the grand opening of Wayfair’s new offices on International Way in Springfield. At the event, those in attendance heard from Site Director, Joel Johnson as well as Wayfair co-founder Steve Conine, and Springfield Mayor Christine Lundberg.
Conine laid out Wayfair’s broad vision, their company culture, and how the new West Coast call center will expand and improve their customer service availability. Johnson connected the call center to the wider community, mentioning their connections volunteering with several local organizations and how Wayfair looked forward to continuing to deepen their relationships and engagement in the Springfield-Eugene area. Mayor Lundberg connected Wayfair’s opening to the growth currently being seen around Springfield, and mentioned that as Springfield grows, she looks forward to Wayfair growing too.
After the ribbon cutting, the team at the site invited attendees to take tours of the renovated office space (and to dine on delicious cupcakes). The sales and customer service floors, training rooms, break rooms, and meeting areas showcased a variety of Wayfair furniture products, and was outfitted for the coming staffing increases.
