Meet Ransom Briggs, CEO & President of 2nd Chance PC. To welcome them as a new member of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, we recently spoke with Ransom to find out more about him and the company.
Tell us a little about 2nd Chance PC.
Having dependable technical support is crucial for businesses to thrive. That’s where 2nd Chance PC comes in. Based in Creswell, Oregon, we’re more than just a managed service provider – we’re a reliable ally in navigating the complexities of modern technology. I’ve been a professional in the IT industry for 25 years with experience in Fortune 500 companies. We opened this business three years ago, and we are proud to have 35 five-star reviews, and have never lost a customer. Our team brings expertise and dedication to every client interaction.
Where and how did you get your start in this type of business?
In 1999, I started as a technical support specialist for a Fortune 500 company in Nashville. Within three years, I became their IT director. After that, I worked for many companies as a senior technical support specialist, but always felt like I could provide a better quality experience to the customers. I opened my first business in Long Beach, California, about 13 years ago, and had great success. This is my “2nd” chance at owning a business, hence the name. I’ve always had good skills with technology and I wanted to bring that to our customers.
What services do you offer and what makes 2nd Chance PC unique?
We are a technical support help desk (Managed Service Provider MSP) and offer support for all technical matters. We bring many years of knowledge to our customers to help them make the right decisions about security and infrastructure purchases. What do you like most about this work?
Computers can be frustrating, especially to people who are not tech savvy. I love to be able to help them and remove the frustration from the equation. It’s my superhero version of “swooping in and saving the day.”
Do you have any advice for others?
Turn on multi-factor authentication. Security is the most important thing these days, and I can’t stress enough the importance of password complexity and a second authentication method, like a text or an app on your phone to access your accounts.
