Eugene, Oregon, December 16, 2020.

Springfield Rotary announces that Friday, December 18, 2020, at 1:30 pm, Springfield Rotarians will host a Re-tooling event for community members directly affected by the Holiday Farm Fire who lost tools in the fire that are essential to their livelihood. This effort is jointly funded by the Rotary Fire Relief Fund and Jerry’s Home Improvement Center. Several Rotarians will escort recipients through Jerry’s Home Improvement Center to purchase replacement tools and equipment.

This all started with a grant that Rotary District 5110 obtained from Rotary International to help those impacted by the fires in early September. Springfield Rotary was asked to take the lead for the Holiday Farm Fire. “We have done so and will be able to help 36 people to purchase tools to help get them back to work,” says Gino Grimaldi, Springfield Rotary Club Service Chair. “Through the generosity of Jerry’s Home Improvement Center and funds from Rotary District 5110 Fire Relief fund, we are able to give up to $1000 per person. Individuals were selected after completing an application for assistance. We are, however, unable to accept additional applications because we do not have funds remaining for this program. Even though $1,000 per person is a significant sum, many people have needs which exceed the amount we are able to provide.” “It is only with the cooperation and support of community businesses and groups that we can offer a sense of normalcy to fire victims. Thank you Jerry’s Home improvement Center for providing twenty-six $500.00 gift cards to support those in need.

The remaining applications will be funded by the Rotary Fire Relief Fund.” says Springfield Rotary Club President, Bruce Webber. Springfield Rotary Service Committee Chair, Gino Grimaldi says, “Rotary is helping people impacted by the Holiday Farm Fire and even though Rotary and many others are helping people the needs are great and help will be needed for many months ahead.”
