A few weeks ago, early on a Saturday morning, I encountered this guy on Main Street walking around with a stunned look of amazement on his face. Turns out it was Tom Dragoo, retired from Banner Bank and former member of the Springfield Renaissance Development Corporation. Tom spends a lot of time traveling in his RV these days and hadn’t been in downtown Springfield for several months. The look of amazement was the result of Tom seeing just what has taken place downtown. He simply couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Indeed the 300 block of Main Street has undergone a transformation and it happened quickly.

The exciting thing is that the transformation is extending beyond the 300 block, with Swallow Tail soon to open at 111 Main Street, Public House doing a booming business at 4th and A, Cornucopia, 521 Main Street opening next month, the exciting Booth Kelly Makers District, and of course, the Wildish Theater.

The revitalization of Springfield is moving beyond the 300 block of Main Street as business owners, entrepreneurs, and customers discover what an exciting place downtown Springfield is.

I can’t wait to see what the place looks like the next time Tom comes to visit!
