Oregon Community Credit Union (OCCU) was recognized as one of the 2019 100 Best Companies to Work for in Oregon by Oregon Business Magazine. OCCU placed 15th in the large company category. Through employee-based surveys, the 100 Best list recognizes large, medium and small companies for their excellence in work environment, management, communications, decision-making and trust, career development, learning, benefits and compensation.

“OCCU is committed to providing a challenging, open and engaging work environment because we understand that when we make a difference in the lives of our employees, we can make an even greater difference in the communities we serve,” said OCCU President & CEO Ron Neumann. “Our employees are passionately committed to providing exceptional service and value to our membership. We could not be the organization we are today without our employees’ unwavering dedication to our members.

OCCU works hard to offer employees not only competitive wages and generous benefits, but ongoing employee training and career development opportunities. Staff at all levels of the organization have the opportunity to apply for financial support in furthering their education through the OCCU Scholars Program.

OCCU believes that the time spent at work needs to be caring, engaging and supportive. From the Wellness Committee’s encouragement of healthy habits at work and at home and expense reimbursement program to the employee-driven Fun Committee’s annual Golden Pumpkin Halloween costume and decorating competition, OCCU works to support employees beyond just their day-to-day operational responsibilities.

Through the organization’s Community Outreach for Employees (CORE) Program, employees are paid to volunteer with local nonprofit organizations they are passionate about. In 2018, employees spent more than 1,800 hours in the community. Giving back to the communities that OCCU serves is a pillar of the OCCU brand, and it attracts employees who share that commitment.

“We consistently hear from our employees that they value the caring culture we’ve created.” said Tracey Keffer, VP Human Resources.

Neumann added, “OCCU is honored by this recognition and is committed to lifelong learning, dedicated to continuous improvement and passionate about its people, its members and the communities we serve!”

OCCU was founded in 1956 in Eugene. Today, as a notfor-profit financial cooperative, OCCU has more than $1.7 billion in assets, and its members are served through digital channels and 11 branch and service center locations in Eugene, Springfield, Salem and Wilsonville. Although most members are Oregonians living in one of the 28 counties OCCU serves, others reside throughout the United States and even abroad, keeping their membership active through Online and Mobile Banking and the Shared Branching network.
