Willamalane Unveils Draft 20-Year Comprehensive Plan

Willamalane Park and Recreation District published a draft of its 20-year comprehensive plan on Monday, June 19. This plan, developed over the last year and based on input from over 3,800 passionate community members, outlines the vision for the future of parks and recreation in Springfield.

The draft plan reflects the diverse ideas, opinions, and desires expressed by community members, making it a true representation of collective vision for a vibrant and inclusive parks and recreation system. Now, Willamalane invites the community to review the draft plan and provide valuable feedback.

Willamalane values the community’s input and believes that involving the public in the planning process is vital for creating a successful and inclusive parks and recreation system that meets the needs of all residents.

Community members can review the comprehensive plan and provide feedback through a survey at willamalane.org/future. The deadline to submit feedback is July 14, 2023.

As part of the public input process, Willamalane is hosting an event called “Shape the Future with Pizza.” This engaging event will provide community members with the opportunity to have direct conversations with Willamalane’s team about the draft plan and share their thoughts. Attendees will have the chance to explore the plan, engage in discussions, and contribute their ideas to help shape the final version. For those unable to attend in person, an online participation option is available.
