Womenspace Annual Masquerade Gala
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Womenspace’s annual benefit this year is a Masquerade Gala.
This year’s theme is Unmasking Domestic Violence. With the demand for services increasing every year at Womenspace, it’s time to think differently about domestic violence.
Behind the mask of domestic violence, victims experience things that most people don’t see, like financial abuse and homelessness. When access to money is cut off, credit is ruined, or a job is lost, many survivors of domestic violence end up homeless. In fact, 74% stay in a violent relationship because of financial abuse. They feel afraid, helpless, and hopeless, especially as they consider the dangers of living on the street. Sadly, over 40% of the survivors we serve are already homeless.
Help us Unmask Domestic Violence by joining us for our annual gala:
- Learn how financial abuse and homelessness impact victims of domestic violence.
- Discover how your support of Womenspace positively affects the lives of survivors and their children.
- Celebrate this year’s recipient of the Resiliency Award, given to a survivor who, against all odds, was able to adapt and recover in the face of adverse conditions.
Womenspace is more than just a shelter. We’ve grown to a 40+ person staff serving over 2000 adults and 2000 children each year. And with over 5,000 crisis and support line calls coming in, we need your help more than ever to meet the growing demand for services.
Won’t you join me in making a difference in the lives of survivors and their families?
