Singing Creek Educational Center (SCEC) is hosting a Grandparent’s Tea fundraiser on Sunday, September 13 at 1:00pm. Families can enjoy two flights of tea with fresh baked treats served by volunteers and donated by local grocery stores. A harpist will play music to accompany the event, and all seniors 60 years and up can select an item from the homemade gift table to take home.

This unique tea allows families to honor their elders (including “Grandfriends”) by writing their names on paper hearts and stringing them up on ribbons around the room, whether they are still living or not. The funds raised at this event help create scholarships for low-income families to attend SCEC educational programs.

The event is at the Shelton McMurphey Johnson, a beautifully appointed Victorian mansion, which is located at 303 Willamette Street in Eugene. The Grandparent’s Tea is scheduled each year to coincide with National Grandparent’s Day, on the first Sunday in September.

The fundraiser will be a ticketed event. The cost is $36 per adult and $26 for kids 12 and under.
