The Springfield City Council has appointed Jill Cuadros to serve as the Ward 4 Interim City Councilor, filling a vacancy on the Council through December 31, 2026.

The appointment follows a public application and selection process in accordance with the Springfield Charter. The interim position ensures continued representation for Ward 4 residents until the seat is filled through the November 2026 general election.

The City received applications from six highly qualified candidates for the Ward 4 position. Following a thoughtful and transparent selection process, the City Council conducted interviews, deliberated in a public meeting, and ultimately appointed Cuadros to serve in the interim role.

Cuadros brings more than three decades of connection to the Springfield community, along with extensive experience in public service and administration. She has lived in Springfield for 38 years and has built a career in public service.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Ward 4 and the Springfield community,” said Cuadros. “Springfield has shaped my life, and I’m committed to supporting thoughtful decision-making, strong core services, and long-term stability. I believe in approaching decisions with a clear understanding of how our systems work together, informed by data and community input to support a strong and resilient community.”

She brings experience in public administration, including budget management, capital project oversight, and intergovernmental collaboration. Her work reflects an understanding of how housing, economic development, education, and community services are interconnected in supporting a strong and resilient community.

Mayor Sean VanGordon welcomed Cuadros to the Council, noting the importance of continuity and community-focused leadership during the interim term.

As an Interim Councilor, Cuadros will participate fully in Council meetings, budget discussions, and committee assignments. City Councilors serve as volunteers and play a key role in setting policy, guiding long-range planning, and representing the interests of the entire community.

The Ward 4 seat will appear on the November 2026 ballot, with the elected Councilor serving the remainder of the term through December 31, 2028.

Residents are encouraged to attend City Council meetings and stay engaged in local decision-making. Meeting information and agendas are available here.
