City of Springfield Publishes FY27 Proposed Budget, Invites Public Review and Participation

The City of Springfield has published its proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2027 and is inviting community members to review the document and participate in the upcoming public budget process.

The proposed budget covers the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027. The City’s Budget Committee will begin reviewing the proposal during public meetings scheduled for May 4 through May 6, 2026.

Community members are encouraged to review the proposed budget, learn more about the budget process, and share input as part of the City’s public review and adoption process.



How to Access the Proposed Budget

The FY27 proposed budget is available online at: 
springfield-or.gov/city/finance/budget-committee-meetings-agendas.

A paper copy is also available for public review at City Hall (Administrative Services counter) during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Budget Committee Meeting Schedule

  • Monday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m. – Election of Officers, City Manager Welcome, Budget Message Presentation, Department Future Considerations, Public Comment (Business from the Audience)

  • Tuesday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m. – Springfield Economic Development Agency (SEDA) Budget Presentation and Action, City Budget Committee Deliberation

  • Wednesday, May 6 at 5:30 p.m. – State Shared Revenue, City Budget Committee Deliberation, Budget Approval Motions

The May 5 meeting includes both the Springfield Economic Development Agency (SEDA) budget process and continued deliberation on the City’s proposed budget. These are separate legal budgets with distinct review and approval processes.

How to Participate
Community members may provide input in the following ways:

  • In person: Attend the May 4 meeting and provide comments during the public comment portion of the agenda, listed as “Business from the Audience.”

  • Online via Zoom: Join the meeting virtually and use the “raise hand” feature during the public comment portion to request to speak.

About the Budget Process
The City of Springfield Budget Committee is a 12-member panel composed of six elected City Councilors and six appointed Springfield electors. The committee reviews, discusses, and recommends the annual budget before it is considered for adoption by the City Council.

Final budget decisions are made only after Budget Committee review, public input, and Council action.
