Member Profile: Blue Star Gas

Established in 1938, Blue Star Gas provides residential and commercial propane services to meet customer energy needs. The Springfield Chamber connected with Jason Trinder, Division Manager at Blue Star Gas in Eugene, to find out more about the local gas provider.
Tell us a little about Blue Star Gas.
Blue Star Gas is a family-owned propane company that has served customers since 1938. We are now in our third generation of family ownership. Here in the Eugene and Springfield area, our local team provides propane delivery, tank service, cylinder filling, commercial propane, agricultural propane, autogas, backup generator fuel support, and propane system service.
Propane plays an important role in daily life. It heats homes, fuels restaurants and food trucks, supports farms, powers forklifts, helps businesses operate, and provides backup energy when the power goes out. At Blue Star Gas, our goal is simple. We provide dependable propane service with local people who answer the phone, know the area, and care about taking care of the customer.
How did you get started in your industry?
I came to Blue Star Gas after years of leadership experience in the military and business operations. The propane industry stood out to me because it is hands-on, practical, and tied directly to the needs of the community. This is work where you see the result. A family has heat. A restaurant keeps cooking. A generator is ready before a storm. A rural customer has fuel when they need it. That kind of work matters.

What services do you offer and what makes Blue Star Gas different?
Blue Star Gas offers propane delivery, propane tank sales and rentals, propane system service, cylinder filling, generator fuel support, commercial fueling, agricultural propane, autogas, and customer support for residential and business accounts.
What makes Blue Star Gas different is our local service. When customers call our Eugene office, they reach real people who understand the area and want to help solve the problem. We serve homeowners, restaurants, food trucks, farms, contractors, schools, churches, fleets, and businesses with backup power needs. We are not trying to be the biggest name in propane. We are working to be the most trusted name in the communities we serve. That trust comes from answering the phone, showing up, following through, and doing the job right.
What do you like most about your work?
I like the people. I like working with a team that takes pride in serving customers. Our drivers, service technicians, sales staff, and customer support team all play an important role.
I also like that propane is connected to real life. It keeps families warm. It helps restaurants serve meals. It supports local businesses. It gives rural customers dependable energy options. It helps keep backup power ready when customers need it. There is purpose in that.
Any advice for others?
Take care of people. Do the small things right. Answer the phone. Follow through. Own your mistakes. Treat every customer like they matter, because they do. Business success is built on trust. Trust is earned one delivery, one service call, one conversation, and one follow-up at a time.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Blue Star Gas is proud to serve the Eugene and Springfield area. We are excited to be more involved in the local business community through the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. We want people to know we are here, we are local, and we are ready to help. Whether someone needs propane for their home, restaurant, food truck, forklift, generator, farm, or business, we would be glad to talk with them.
