Springfield Chamber Joins National Coalition Supporting BUILD America 250 Act

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce has joined more than 400 state and local chambers of commerce from all 50 states in urging Congress to advance the BUILD America 250 Act (H.R. 8870), a bipartisan proposal to reauthorize and strengthen national infrastructure programs through 2031.
Organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the coalition submitted a joint letter to congressional leadership on July 14, calling for passage of legislation that would provide long-term certainty for investments in highways, bridges, rail, public transit, ports, and other critical transportation infrastructure.
In announcing the coalition effort, the U.S. Chamber thanked participating organizations for sending “a powerful, bipartisan message” that the nation’s business community is united behind modernizing America’s transportation network.
“This legislation enjoys broad, bipartisan support for its important investments in our nation’s surface transportation network – the foundation of our economy, competitiveness, and quality of life.”
– Excerpt from the coalition letter to Congress to pass the BUILD America 250 Act
Reliable transportation infrastructure is fundamental to a healthy regional economy. It supports the movement of people, products, and services, strengthens supply chains, improves access to jobs, and helps businesses compete in an increasingly interconnected marketplace. Predictable federal investment also allows state and local governments, transportation agencies, and private-sector partners to better plan and deliver major infrastructure projects.
The coalition’s letter also supports reforms intended to streamline the review and permitting process for transportation projects, with the goal of reducing unnecessary delays while delivering infrastructure more efficiently and cost-effectively. Those principles closely mirror the Springfield Chamber’s policy positions supporting strategic public investment, regulatory efficiency, and long-term economic development.
For the Springfield Chamber, participating in the Build America 250 coalition aligns with its longstanding business advocacy priorities around economic competitiveness, infrastructure investment, and business-growth policies. The Chamber will continue monitoring developments as this legislation moves through Congress.
