City of Springfield Seeks Applicants for Boards, Committees, and Commissions

The City of Springfield invites passionate and civic-minded community members to apply for open positions on several boards, committees, and commissions. This is a valuable opportunity to help shape public policy, guide city initiatives, and ensure that community perspectives are well represented in decision-making.

Applications are available online at Springfield Get Involved. The deadline for all positions is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Completed applications may be submitted electronically to cmomail@springfield-or.gov or delivered to the City Manager’s Office at 225 5th Street, Springfield, OR 97477.

BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (BPAC)
Openings: Two full-term voting member positions (three-year terms starting January 2026)
Duties: Advise on active transportation policies, programs, and projects.
Eligibility: Up to two members may live outside of Springfield city limits if their primary residence is within the Springfield urban growth boundary. Applicants should have a strong interest in walking, biking, and active transportation.

BUDGET COMMITTEE
Openings:
SEDA representative, must be a resident or business owner within the SEDA Downtown District (term ends 12/31/28); SEDA representative, must be a resident or business owner within the SEDA Glenwood District (term ends 12/31/27)
Duties: Review and advise on the SEDA’s annual budget and financial plans.
Eligibility: Must reside in the ward represented in the open positions. Ward Map.

HISTORIC COMMISSION
Openings: One partial term (ending 12/31/2026); One full-term (ending 12/31/29)
Duties: Preserve and interpret Springfield’s historic and cultural resources.
Eligibility: Preference for professionals in architecture, history, or related fields. Must reside or be an elector within the Metro Plan boundaries.

SPRINGFIELD ARTS COMMISSION
Openings: One partial term positions (ending 12/31/2029)
Duties: Support and promote the arts through community events, grants, and outreach.
Eligibility: Must live, own property, or operate a business in Springfield. One non-resident seat is available.

SPRINGFIELD HISTORY MUSEUM COMMITTEE
Openings: One partial term (ending 12/31/2026); Two partial terms (ending 12/31/2028); One full-term (ending 12/31/2029)
Duties: Assist with museum exhibit planning, programming, and outreach.
Eligibility: Preference for Springfield residents or business owners.

Interviews & Selection
The Springfield City Council will interview applicants during scheduled work sessions in March and April 2026. Dates and times will be announced in advance.
