Springfield Employers: Connect with Work-Ready University of Oregon Students

The University of Oregon’s students are facing an employment challenge at no fault of their own. Due to several economic factors, the number of students seeking work is much higher than typical. Many of the University of Oregon’s best and brightest are actively looking for part-time employment and are not landing roles.
For members of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, the U of O is offering discounted event registration at their upcoming Part-Time Job Fair to encourage more students to work in our local community. The University is actively seeking more community organizations to partner with them to help their students find gainful employment in the area both during and after students’ time in school.

If employers are interested in connecting with students for internship or full-time employment positions, the student demand is equally high there, as well. On January 29th, the Career Center is holding a Career & Internship Expo. This event is perfect for helping connect with students looking for opportunities over the summer or upon graduation.
Organizations are also encouraged to post any employment opportunities on Handshake, the platform U of O students primarily use when looking for work.
For nonprofit organizations, know that you may be eligible to receive Federal Work-Study funds, meaning a portion of student wages would be subsidized by financial aid.
If organizations are uncertain whether hiring students is right for them, the University of Oregon offers free consulting to companies to ideate how to make the student employment experience as positive as possible for all parties.
