New Roles for Current Staff

Eugene, OR – Travel Lane County is pleased to welcome new staff, and note the promotion of two current staff members, in our Tourism Marketing department. 

Our new Destination Development Manager is Jeff Malik. Jeff will work with stakeholder groups to develop and enhance tourism products, experiences and events to support the community needs for sustainable, year-round economies. 

Jeff made the move west to take part in the University of Oregon’s Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) program. This Americorps program places individuals in communities throughout Oregon each year and Jeff will complete his work with the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative in July. Jeff has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and has worked on a number of environmental projects in Pennsylvania.

Hobe Robin has been promoted from Brand Ambassador to Visitor Services Manager. Hobe will be responsible for managing Visitor Services staff and visitor center operations to inspire visitors to stay and travel throughout Lane County. He will develop tools for frontline training, oversee delivery of trainings and help visitors plan trips, book accommodations and schedule recreational activities.

Hobe graduated from Florida State University with a BS in Business Administration and majored in hospitality management. Hobe’s has direct hospitality experience in both attractions and hotels, most recently working locally at the award-winning Inn at the 5th.

Melanie Griffin has been promoted from Tourism Coordinator to Content Manager and will be working in our Integrated Marketing Department. In her new role Melanie will be responsible for managing the organizations photo and video assets, creating photo and video assets and creating content for the website, blogs and other materials.

Melanie graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. Her coursework included work in the cinema studies department and she studied three languages. Her work history includes working as a legal assistant, working in the UO Brain Development Lab and interning with an advertising and marketing firm.
