PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend Welcomes New Chief Operating Officer

PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend has announced James Roundtree as its new chief operating officer. His first day will be June 2.

James will join the Oregon network executive team with a focus on the day-to-day operations at RiverBend, including surgical services, imaging, lab and facilities. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to PeaceHealth, from overseeing major construction projects and operating rooms, to physician relations and nurse leadership councils.



Prior to joining PeaceHealth, James was the vice president of Surgical and Cardiovascular Services at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a level 2 trauma and designated stroke center. During the past nine years, he managed more than 400 employees in departments such as surgical services, endoscopy, sterile processing and cardiac rehab. In 2020, he led a $75 million renovation at Washington Regional, which has been voted the top hospital in Arkansas four straight years.

Before his time in Fayetteville, James was the director of perioperative services at Harris Methodist Hospital – HEB in Bedford, Texas. He also previously served as a service line manager at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

A native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, James got his start in healthcare as a nurse, earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in his hometown, where he also later earned his Master of Business Administration. He served in the United States Army as a perioperative nurse at Keller Army Hospital in West Point, N.Y., and then at Fort Sill in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
