Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Pets
This Thanksgiving, be sure to keep your animal companions healthy and safe. Before allowing your pet to divulge in the holiday feasts, Greenhill Humane Society has some helpful tips for a harmonious Thanksgiving that both you and your pets will enjoy.

Below are helpful tips for ensuring a happy and safe Thanksgiving:
- Your dog might love a tasty snack of turkey, but make sure your pets do not ingest any bones which may cause a choking hazard.
- Keep an eye out while baking! Don’t let your pet eat any raw yeast dough. It’s tempting, but it could lead to something life-threatening.
- Your pets are sweet enough! If you’re baking cakes, be sure your pets keep their noses out of the batter, especially if it includes raw eggs.
- Be aware that common ingredients this time of year can be poisonous to your pets. These include chocolate, raisins, grapes, and onions among others.
- While the humans are chowing down, feel free to give your pet their own little feast. Offer them dental chews or other made-for-pet chew bones. Or stuff their usual dinner – perhaps with a few added tidbits of turkey, vegetables (try sweet potato or green beans), and dribbles of gravy – inside a Kong toy. They’ll be happily occupied for a while, working hard to extract their dinner from the toy.
