QSL Print Communications is mourning the loss of Doug Koke, a beloved leader, mentor, and friend who
passed away on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2025. Doug’s impact on the printing industry, the University of Oregon community, and the many people whose lives he touched will be felt for generations.

Doug dedicated his life to the printing profession, continuing a family legacy that began in Eugene in 1907. He believed deeply in the craft of printing and the people behind it. Through his leadership and vision, he helped guide QSL Print Communications into a modern, innovative company while preserving the values of quality, service, and integrity that defined his career. Doug was known for his hands-on leadership style and could often be found on the production floor, working alongside employees and
offering guidance rooted in decades of experience.

“We believe Doug’s success was due to his personal motto: Be kind to people, do great work, and have fun, dammit,” said Melissa Koke, CEO of QSL Print Communications and Doug’s daughter.

Doug’s influence extended far beyond print. He was a lifelong supporter of the University of Oregon and a cherished figure in Ducks football tradition. For more than two decades, he rode the Harley motorcycle across the field at Autzen Stadium to lead the team in a moment that became iconic for fans and players. His passion for the Oregon Ducks was infectious, and his presence on game days embodied school spirit, pride, and community connection.

Above all, Doug was devoted to his family. He treasured time spent with loved ones and was especially proud of the next generation, sharing his values, work ethic, and love of community with his children and grandchildren. His kindness, generosity, and steady leadership left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

QSL Print Communications extends its deepest condolences to Doug’s family, friends and the many colleagues who had the privilege of working with him. His legacy lives on through the company he helped shape through his care for craftsmanship, the traditions he created and the community he loved.

Doug’s life is celebrated by his wife Nancy, his daughter Melissa Koke, his daughter Keri Ortiz (Raoul), and his son Ryan Koke (Renae). He is also survived by his brother Delbert Koke (Marsha), sister Ronni Anderson, and grandchildren Ryan Simington, Robert and Anna Ortiz, Miles Koke and another grandchild due in May, as well as multiple nieces and nephews and adopted family friends.
