Coalition to Defeat Measure 118 Launches Resource Toolkit and Video

Back in August, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce took a firm stance on Measure 118, joining a coalition of concerned businesses, organizations, and individuals to fight a costly new sales tax on businesses and to educate the public on the facts and impacts ahead of the November election. There is now a new toolkit our members may use to inform their employees, vendors, and the public about Measure 118.

Defeat the Costly Tax on Sales, the broad coalition of Oregonians leading the campaign against Measure 118, has made available the Measure 118 Toolkit to help inform Oregon voters about the negative impacts of Measure 118, a massive tax on sales that would drive up costs for Oregon businesses and consumers.

Included in this toolkit are fact sheets, illustrations, coalition sign-up forms, example communications to employees and vendors, social media templates, and more. Some of these materials are available within the packet itself. Others are best made available through electronic means and are available by request at info@NOonMeasure118.com.

There are also break room posters, yard signs, and bumper stickers available by request. Please complete the Materials Request Form checklist available on the No on 118 website. The resources available here are just examples and possible starting points – there may be other means of communicating your position on Measure 118 that make sense for your specific situation.

A gross receipts tax means that Oregon businesses would be forced to pay this new tax regardless of whether they make a large profit, small profit, or are losing money; and because the tax applies at every step of the production and selling process, it is far more costly than a typical sales tax.
