Member Profile: Richardson Media

Meet Jennifer Richards, owner of Richardson Media. The Springfield Chamber recently spoke with Jennifer to find out more about her and her company.
Tell us a little about Richardson Media.
Richardson Media is a strategic communications and video production company based in Lane County. At the heart of what we do is helping organizations tell their stories in a way that actually connects with people. We specialize in video production, public relations with a strong emphasis on earned media, and media training. Whether it is creating compelling video content, securing meaningful media coverage, or helping leaders feel confident sharing their message, our work revolves around authenticity. A lot of our projects focus on community impact, and we love having the opportunity to highlight meaningful stories across Oregon.
How did you get started in your industry?
I spent 15 years as a television news anchor and reporter, so storytelling has always been at the core of my work. A fun part of that journey is that my husband, Brian, and I actually met in the industry and went on to anchor together in multiple markets, eventually covering stories right here in Lane County.
Over time, I realized I wanted to be on the other side of the camera, helping organizations tell their own stories instead of just covering them. That is really what led me to start Richardson Media. I saw a need for clear, authentic communication and knew I could bring that perspective from my background in news.
What services do you offer, and what makes Richardson Media different?
We focus on award-winning, high-end video production, media relations with an emphasis on earned media, and media training. A lot of times, those all work together. We might produce a polished, strategic video, secure meaningful media coverage, and prepare a spokesperson, all as part of one cohesive approach.

What makes us different is that we truly understand how stories work, not just how to produce them. With my background in journalism, we know what gets attention, what builds trust, and what actually resonates with an audience. We stay very hands-on and personal throughout the process, so clients are never handed off or lost in the mix.
And especially right now, when so much content is driven by AI and can start to feel generic, we focus on cutting through the noise. We tell real, human stories that people can actually connect with.
What do you like most about your work?
Honestly, the people. We get to meet and work with so many incredible organizations and individuals who are doing important work in our community. A lot of our work involves nonprofits, and many of the projects we produce help them reach their fundraising goals. That is the best part. Knowing the stories we tell are not just raising awareness, but actually making a difference.
At the end of the day, it is about creating impact in our community and helping build something meaningful that lasts for our kids and future generations.
Any advice for others?
Do not overcomplicate your message. The clearer and more real you are with your viewers and audience, the more people will connect with what you are saying.
Also, be kind in your work. I truly care about my clients as much as they care about their brands, and that matters. Everyone has a story. It can feel scary or even overwhelming to tell it, but it is also really fun to showcase your brand and give people a look behind the curtain.
When you do that, you allow yourself to be a little vulnerable, and that is what makes it real. That is what people connect with.
Anything else you’d like to share?
We really believe that everyone has a story worth telling. When you take the time to tell it well, it can open doors you did not even know were there. If you have been thinking about investing in video, gaining meaningful media coverage, or simply getting more confident telling your own story on camera, we would love to help.
