Now in its 28th year, Daily Journal of Commerce (DJC) Top Projects is the premier recognition program to honor the people and firms doing outstanding work in the regional built environment – that is, the best building and construction projects in the Pacific Northwest.

The 2024 Top Projects features three local projects receiving awards from the Daily Journal of Commerce. These are: Crosswood Apartments, University of Oregon Hamilton-Walton Transformation, and the Eugene Family YMCA.

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Chamber members that were honored for their work in these award-winning development projects.

CROSSWOOD APARTMENTS
Designed with techniques and materials that honor the beauty and innovation of Eugene, Crosswood is comprised of 127 sustainably built apartments using cross-laminated timber, and features exposed wood ceilings, oversized windows, and views of the Willamette River Greenway.

Springfield Chamber members involved include: CDC Management Corp as developer/manager of recipient Crosswood LLC; general contractor John Hyland Construction, and subcontractors Twin Rivers Plumbing and Harvey and Price; as well as landscape architect and planner Cameron McCarthy.

UNIVERSITY OF OREGON HAMILTON-WALTON TRANSFORMATION
Phase one of this expansive overhaul included Unthank Hall, completed in 2021, containing the Student Welcome Center, PNW Market, academic spaces, and residences for 700 students. Phase two saw the removal of Walton Hall and construction of two new residence hall buildings, both completed last year. Phase three, to be completed in 2026, will encompass an uninterrupted green space that stretches from the Erb Memorial Union lawn to the alumni center and Matthew Knight Arena.

Members of the Springfield Chamber involved in this project include: University of Oregon Housing (project owner); and Twin Rivers Plumbing.

EUGENE FAMILY YMCA
The flagship Eugene Family YMCA, completed and opened in December 2023, strengthens our diverse community by offering programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The new Y continues a 137-year legacy of serving the needs of Lane County.

This 75,000-square-foot community project began in June, 2022, and was designed by Springfield Chamber members PIVOT Architecture, with Chambers Construction as the general contractor.

Additionally, outside of the Springfield/Eugene area, Lease Crutcher Lewis received honors for their Forest Grove City Hall and DSA Building, and PeaceHealth was recognized for their St. John Medical Center 8th Floor Renovation project in Longview, Washington.

Congratulations to all our members who received DJC awards!
