Moving full force into 2023, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce remains focused on providing resources that offer members the tools and information they need to keep their businesses thriving. With their Small Business Solutions Hub programming, the Chamber continues to foster business vitality by creating and curating a full-featured and accessible suite of business resource offerings, including but not limited to education, consultation, connection, and navigation of all these components.

The first Small Business Solutions Hub programming of 2023 kicked off with two impressively-accredited businesses providing their knowledge around becoming an ‘Employer of Choice.’

On Friday, March 17th, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce hosted attendees both online and in person for presentations from Alvord Taylor Executive Director, Mark Herbert; as well as Sarena Cook, Learning & Development Manager, and Kim Antram, Human Resources Business Partner, with the Springfield Chamber’s 2022 Employer of the Year, OCCU.

“Trust is the essential foundation for every organization, and frankly, for every relationship. If you are going to have meaningful change, along with sustained performance, you’re going to have to have trust.”

– Mark Herbert, Executive Director, Alvord Taylor

Mark Herbert’s presentation focused on trust, employee engagement, and organizational performance. Mark touched on why trust in the workplace is a crucial component of employee engagement, and how, once established, workers who trust in their management teams will deliver a high performance.

Kim Antram’s and Sarena Cook’s presentations left attendees with many tools and tactics that are transferrable to organizations of any size, and were centered around creating a culture of mutual accountability, offering valuable benefits to employees, employee input and buy-in, and career growth and development.

All three speakers provided attendees with extensive knowledge and implementable tactics around trust in the workplace, employee retention, and talent attraction. The Chamber would like to thank all the presenters in the program: Mark Herbert with Alvord Taylor, and Kim Antram and Sarena Cook with OCCU.

The Chamber would also like to thank their Small Business Solutions Hub title sponsor, Kaiser Permanente, as well as their investors, Hershner Hunter, Hutchinson Cox, Chambers Construction, OCCU, and WaFd Bank.
