EUPHORIA CHOCOLATE RESPONDS TO LOCAL CRISIS BY SPREADING CHOCOLATE CHEER TO HEALTHCARE WORKERS WHO ARE ON THE FRONT LINES

Eugene based Euphoria Chocolate Company’s decision to close retail stores resulted in 1300 Classic Truffles that needed a place to go.

EUGENE, OR (March 20, 2020)— Euphoria Chocolate Company’s decision to close all retail locations for the health and safety of their employees and community resulted in a Chocolate opportunity for local ER’s and medical offices who have seen a drastic uptick in patients with respiratory illness. Euphoria’s signature product, The Classic Truffle, requires refrigeration and isn’t shelf stable. Being faced with the storage of 1300 classic truffles from 3 stores presented a logistical issue, so owners Bonnie and Van Glass decided to spread some Chocolate Cheer to those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Deliveries have been made to Sacred Heart, Riverbend, and McKenzie Willamette.

Co-owner of Euphoria Chocolate, Bonnie Glass, says it all came together in a very “Eugene way”. “I put a message on Facebook that I needed help transporting truffles with a sanitary delivery service and before I knew it, friends and family came forth with connections they had for all of the local ER’s, as well as transportation service providers who were up to the task. What this has shown me is that after this crisis is over, our community will rally to support local business and each other as they always have, “ said Bonnie Glass.

Euphoria is closed temporarily through most of April and is then playing it by ear. Chocolate lovers and “Easter Bunnies” can still order online and choose to have products shipped locally.
