The entire staff of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce attended the 2019 Oregon State Chamber of Commerce (OSCC) Annual Conference at the Best Western Premier Boulder Falls Inn in Lebanon, Oregon on October 15th and 16th. The 2-day conference consisted of focused conversations around the theme of “What is Your Chamber’s Why?”, while giving our staff the chance to network and connect with Chamber employees from towns and cities all around the State of Oregon. Our own Chamber President & CEO Vonnie Mikkelsen opened the conference with a talk on “Who’s New and What’s Next: New Chamber Executive Session”, followed by Keynotes on Communicating your “Why,” Oregon’s Hospitality Industry, OSCC’s Advocacy & GraSsroots Presence, Courageous Leadership, Healthcare, and Increasing Personal Leadership, Productivity and Potential. Breakout sessions included talks on Co-working spaces, Training the Next Generation, Engaging Members, Membership Growth, Leading Productive Conversations, and Telling your Uniquely Oregon Story.

Raffle baskets were provided by each chamber, and money from the raffle went towards a student scholarship fund. These local business generously donated to our Raffle Basket to represent Springfield, Oregon:

George + Violet’s Steakhouse
Board & Brush Springfield, OR
Cornbread Cafe
The Washburne Cafe

We left the conference feeling reinvigorated and inspired to take new approaches to problem-solving. The Chamber is excited to implement knowledge from leaders around the state and improve our benefits to members every day. We love representing our community and the vibrant businesses that make it home!
