More About Ruby Bridges-Hall
At only six years old, Ruby Bridges became an icon in the civil rights movement when she stepped foot into William Frantz Elementary School – single-handedly initiating the desegregation of New Orleans’s public schools in 1960.
60 years later, in Lane County and across the nation, our communities are still fighting for racial justice in our schools, businesses, governments, and beyond, with much accomplished, and much still to do.
As part of this event, Ruby will help United Way launch our new Racial Justice Fund, leveraging and investing resources directly for communities of color here in Lane County.
Join us for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from Ruby Bridges-Hall, learn how you can inform and support the Racial Justice Fund, and discuss how, together, we can advance racial justice throughout Lane County.
All are welcome to attend; please share widely.
Ruby will also be speaking with middle and high school students throughout Lane County the same day, answering questions and encouraging that no matter what age, everyone can be an advocate for what we believe in.
