McKenzie, OR – The Vida McKenzie Community Center is hosting an interactive McKenzie Valley bingo game, July 10th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fundraiser is part of the Come Back Campaign for rebuilding efforts after the center burned down during the September 2020 Holiday Farm Fire.

Each bingo ticket includes entry into the Lavender Festival, lunch from Vinnie’s Smokin’ BBQ, live music, and lawn games. The event starts in Cedar Flat and works upriver. Participants can see firsthand the destruction caused by the fire, the rebuilding process, and the surviving businesses.

“This event is designed to be fun and inclusive for people all over the region. We are inviting you to come to see the McKenzie, what we are, what we are becoming, and what we will be,” says, Gerry Aster, Board Member.

Founded in 2000, the Vida McKenzie Community Center provided residents with a center for community meetings, classes, exhibits, concerts, family events, and more. During the devastating fire, the center burned down, leaving many residents without a place to come together as a community. Since the fire, the center has struggled to begin its rebuilding process because of inadequate insurance coverage. The goal is to raise $755,000 before January with various fundraising events and finish construction by the anniversary of the fire in September of 2022.

The fundraiser is a perfect opportunity for visitors and locals alike to see the McKenzie River, Blue River, and its historical landmarks, local businesses, restaurants, and stores to witness the amazing resilience of the McKenzie River community. Join the Vida McKenzie Center to enjoy safe, easy fun and the opportunity to win a float down the river for two.
