League of Women Voters: Tips to Make Sure Your Vote Counts

The League of Women Voters reminds you that the primary election on May 19 will determine who and what is on the ballot in November. Here are three quick steps to make sure your vote counts:

  • Make sure your address is correct. Go to the Oregon Secretary of State website and click “Go to My Vote Now” to be sure your registration is active and that your ballot reaches you.
  • Declare a party. You’ll need to be registered as a “Democrat” or “Republican” if you want to vote for candidates in the primary on May 19. Update your registration status before April 28. You can change your party affiliation any time.
  • Go to Lane County elections to find an official Elections Drop Box to submit your completed ballot by 8:00pm on May 19. Or make sure your ballot is in the mail Monday, May 18 to account for changes in when the post office postmarks mail.
